What Medi-Cal actually covers
- Individual counseling and therapy
- Psychiatry, including medication evaluation and management
- Care for children and teens, not just adults
- Family counseling in many circumstances
- Crisis services, separate from and faster than regular appointments
How to start at a community health center
You do not need a referral, a diagnosis, or the right words. At our centers, the mental health door on this site, the chat, or one call starts it: tell us as little or as much as you want, and a first appointment gets scheduled. Your Medi-Cal is confirmed before the visit so cost never ambushes you.

If the wait anywhere feels too long
Two honest notes. First, community health centers often see new behavioral health patients sooner than private practices that accept Medi-Cal. Second, if you are in crisis, do not wait for any appointment anywhere: call or text 988 any time, or 911 in immediate danger.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to the questions we hear most. Anything else? Call us, day or night.
Does Medi-Cal really cover therapy, or just crisis care?
Really covers it: ongoing counseling, psychiatry, and more, for adults and children. Crisis services exist on top, not instead.
Can my child see someone using Medi-Cal?
Yes. Children and teens are covered, and our clinicians coordinate with our pediatric team when that helps.
What if I am not sure what I need?
That is the normal starting point, not a problem. The first conversation is where it gets figured out, together.
Your family deserves good care, close to home.
Request an appointment or check your coverage. Medi-Cal and most plans accepted, and nobody is turned away for inability to pay.
