No Insurance? You Still Have Real Options
Uninsured does not mean unwelcome. Here is exactly how care works without coverage in the Inland Empire, and what it actually costs.
Written by the Health Service Alliance care team. Updated July 2026.
The system built for exactly this
Community health centers exist for precisely this situation: care that does not depend on coverage. As a nonprofit network of six centers across the Inland Empire, we see uninsured patients every day, at prices set by household income through the sliding-fee discount, and nobody is turned away for inability to pay.
Your three moves, in order
- First: get seen for whatever you need now. The sliding-fee discount applies from your first visit
- Second: check whether Medi-Cal fits. Many uninsured families qualify without knowing it, and our team helps you apply free
- Third: if Medi-Cal is not a fit, ask about Covered California, where subsidies make private plans affordable for many

What a visit actually looks like
You bring a photo ID and a simple proof of income, like a pay stub. The front desk sets up your discount, you see a provider like any other patient, and you leave knowing your costs before any treatment. Same providers, same rooms, same care as every insured patient.
Do not wait on symptoms
The most expensive care is the kind that waited too long. A concern handled at a checkup costs a fraction, in money and in health, of the same concern handled in an emergency room. If something has been nagging you, that is the visit to book first.
We accept Medi-Cal, Medicare, and most plans
No insurance, or not sure what you have? You are still welcome, and our team helps you apply for Medi-Cal.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to the questions we hear most. Anything else? Call us, day or night.
Will I be treated differently as an uninsured patient?
No. Same providers, same appointments, same standard of care. The only difference is how the bill is calculated, and the sliding fee calculates it fairly.
What if I cannot afford even the discounted price?
Talk to the front desk honestly. Nobody is turned away for inability to pay: that is a commitment, not a slogan.
How fast can I get Medi-Cal?
Many applications are decided within 45 days, and some situations qualify for faster processing. You can be seen on the sliding fee while you wait.
Your family deserves good care, close to home.
Request an appointment or check your coverage. Medi-Cal and most plans accepted, and nobody is turned away for inability to pay.
